Midwest Sports Net is pleased to announce its inaugural Coach of the Year. For 2020, that coach is Ben McCollum, Northwest Missouri State men’s basketball coach.
The Bearcats were looking at an opportunity to win a third NCAA Division II national championship in four years (2017, 2019) before the season was halted abruptly.
McCollum led the Bearcats to a 31-1 record in the 2019-2020, winning an MIAA regular season title and MIAA tournament championship. The Bearcats finished the season with a No. 1 ranking.
Northwest went 24-0 during the calendar year 2020.
